Regardless of cost or material, all of our jewelry is special and should be treated with the love it deserves. Proper care is required to maintain our product’s integrity and keep it looking its best. The following is a basic guideline for keeping you and your jewelry happy:
- Mindfully select jewelry to suit your lifestyle and functionality. Regardless of price, delicate jewelry is delicate. Never bend or alter the intended form of your Jewelry. Consult a professional if size or shape needs adjusting. Remove all jewelry before sleeping, bathing, swimming, sunning, cleaning or exercise.
- Do not wear jewelry when applying lotions, perfume and makeup.
- Never expose jewelry to household cleaners or other harsh chemicals.
- Clean jewelry often, below are some suggestions. Seriously soiled jewelry should be cleaned professionally. Let us know, we can help.
Maintain your gold, silver and brass jewelry with a professional polishing cloth or a soft lint-free 100% cotton cloth for best results. Use of tissue or paper towels can cause scratches because of the fibers in these products. For any jewelry with a matte finish, please contact us for further assistance.
Using warm water is the best bet when cleaning your jewelry. To help remove any oils and loosen buildup,
we also recommend soaking your jewelry in a glass of warm water with a drop or two of non-detergent soap like Dr. Bronner's. Remove after a few minutes and pat dry with a soft cloth. If further cleaning is necessary, use a very soft, worn toothbrush to carefully remove any dirt or debris. Check jewelry for damage or loose stones before cleaning. Always thoroughly dry jewelry after cleaning and before storing.
After each use jewelry should be wiped clean with a polishing cloth to remove perspiration and dirt.
Jewelry should be put away properly in a dry cool place. Store each piece separately in a dry sealed baggy, fabric pouch, lined box and or wrapped in tissue. Storing jewelry individually will increase the longevity of
the piece. This is especially the case with jewelry set with stones- damage will occur if stones rub against each other.
IGWT is always available to consult with you about any care or repair concerns. You can reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We be here for you.

DISCOLORATION and TARNISH
All of our brass jewelry is raw, meaning that it is not coated and will develop a patina as it is exposed to air and with wear. The rate of oxidation varies with each individual wearer and climate. Brass rings most commonly transfers oxidation onto your skin. To slow discoloration, avoid getting brass rings wet. Most commonly, we suggest using a clear nail polish to coat the inside of the ring. IGWT can offer plating services if desired.
All of our Sterling Silver jewelry is solid 925 silver and is stamped as such, silver will also oxidize over time but at a much slower rate than brass.
All of our gold jewelry is 14kt yellow, sometimes rose or white gold. Gold will rarely tarnish but may once in a while benefit from alight polishing to bring back it's original shine.
Discoloration, or oxidation, is an inherent and inevitable characteristic of brass and silver jewelry. However, since no current IGWT jewelry item is plated and therefore solid, the process to get your jewelry back to its original lustre is easy.
Polishing: DIY! The process is quite easy. Purchase a polishing cloth at any IGWT location and rub the tarnish away. For flat pieces like our sweet nothings set it on a flat surface and rub the pendant face down; you may have to put some elbow grease into it depending on the state of your pendant. For pieces with nooks and crannies, it’s probably easier to buy a liquid brass cleaner.

If your jewelry requires repair, contact us directly with proof of purchase to see what can be done.
During the first 6 months after purchase, IGWT will cover the cost of jewelry requiring repair that show proper wear and care. If the piece shows signs of improper care or the damage was accidental, we will offer our repair services at cost. For example, if a cuff bracelet has been continuously bent to shape and breaks or if a necklace is accidentally pulled and breaks, IGWT will not be held responsible for repair or replacement costs. The buyer will be provided with an estimate of repair fees for approval before any work is done and will also assume all associated shipping costs.
Chain repair is a common service we do for IGWT jewelry. Typically a chain broken at one spot will require one resoldering fee. At repair, the entire necklace will be inspected and other suspect weak spots will be addressed by technicians in our studio.
Sterling Silver Chains:
- Repair / Broken Sterling Silver chains can be resoldered for $20 per chain.
- Repair / Broken gold chains can be resoldered for $20 per chain.
Rings in any metal can be resized for $40+. We recommend a max resizing of one full size. Further resizing is possible but may alter the integrity and/or the overall look of the original ring and require further cost. Additional materials will be billed separately.
If you're looking to have your cuff resized email email@example.com for further pricing.
Each IGWT earring/stud comes with both a metal back (silver for brass and silver earrings, gold for gold earrings) and an added rubber back for security. If you did not receive both for your earring(s) please contact us. If you lost your earring backs, replacements may be purchased for the following:
- Silver (Sterling) earring backs / $4 per piece
- Gold (14kt Yellow) earring push backs / $10 per piece
- Gold (14kt Yellow) earring screw backs / $30 per piece
- Rubber backs are free
It is recommended for jewelry set with stones to be checked from time to time by a professional jeweler to make sure all stones are tightened and in place as normal usage can wear away the prongs or loosen the settings overtime. Stones lost during the first 6 months after purchase will be replaced by IGWT free of charge, given the piece does not show signs of damage or improper care. If the piece shows signs of improper care or the damage was accidental, IGWT will offer a replacement at cost.
1pt Diamond setting / $40 per setting. Cost includes diamond.
